Position: Regulatory Operations Associate

Location: Mountain View

Duration: 12+ month contract

 

 

The ideal candidate will be hyper-organized and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment that sometimes entails externally-imposed challenges. This person should be a natural problem-solver and have a knack for compliance and structure. This person will work cross-functionally among the Operations, Legal, and Waymo staffing vendor teams. This position may require working in a physical office at least 2-3 days per week immediately upon starting in order to handle physical documents and other assets.

Professionalism, care, and personal responsibility is required at all times. Waymo has a strong team culture of safety and we expect everyone to adhere to team standards of conduct. This person is expected to keep all work details confidential. 

 

Overall Responsibilities:

1.      Work with operational teams in the field and the broader Regulatory Compliance team to intake regulatory documents and file them per Waymo's document retention policy. This includes assisting program managers in assembling, tracking, and filing regulatory applications for autonomous vehicle operators or vehicles in both digital and hardcopy forms with exceptional attention to detail and care

2.      Anticipate, identify, and problem-solve procedural issues that may affect company goals, and be able to improve processes

3.      Create and maintain in-vehicle documents and other materials 

4.      Track renewal deadlines and other due dates using a mixture of different technologies including Google Sheets and proprietary issue-tracking software. Be able to remain flexible, learn new softwares quickly, and suggest tools and features to increase efficiency

5.      Ability to build healthy relationships, use strong written and verbal communication skills, and work both individually and as part of a cross-functional team

6.      Support the broader Regulatory Compliance and Product & Regulatory teams with misc. work as needed (this includes pulling records, producing vehicle or driver lists, light research, document assembly, and giving input as a subject matter expert over time)

 

Required Qualifications:

1.      At least an AA in Business Administration, Legal, or a regulatory-related discipline 

2.      2-3 years in an administrative, legal, or compliance-related role

3.      2+ years working in a fast-paced environment that required laser-like attention to detail and organization skills

4.      2+ years working with proprietary software 

5.      1+ year of experience assembling and tracking legal paperwork – natural record-keeping/documentation skills

6.      Strong understanding/regular usage of GSuite (Gmail, Drive, Sheets, etc.)

7.      Ability to remain flexible and quickly learn and feel comfortable with proprietary software

8.      Excellent people skills and a positive, can-do attitude

 

Nice to Have:

1.      Strong familiarity with CA DMV processes

2.      Familiarity with state and federal transportation or autonomous vehicle regulations

3.      Enthusiasm for autonomous vehicles and/or safety and compliance philosophies

 

Skill/Experience/Education

·        At least an AA in Business Administration, Legal, or a regulatory-related discipline 

·        2-3 years in an administrative, legal, or compliance-related role

·        2+ years working in a fast-paced environment that required laser-like attention to detail and organization skills – a natural knack for record-keeping/documentation

·        2+ years working with proprietary software 

·        1+ year of experience assembling and tracking legal paperwork

·        1+ year managing light programs or projects – ability to own a task from start to finish with minimal oversight Strong understanding/regular usage of GSuite (Gmail, Drive, Sheets, etc.)

·        Ability to remain flexible and quickly learn and feel comfortable with proprietary software

·        Excellent people skills and a positive, can-do attitude

·        Strong familiarity with CA DMV processes
