Application Support Analyst / .NET Developer

Job Description – Application Support Analyst


This contract position will provide support for a group of Distribution applications. There is a mix of internal and outside vendor applications that are in scope and are either mobile/web or fat client solutions.


The primary duties will include: 

  • Production support
  • problem analysis and resolution (production support)
  • root cause analysis
  • Minor Development
  • Coding on bugs, minor enhancements
  • Testing
  • Unit testing coding effort
  • System testing with business users or assisting with testing plans
  • Coordinating testing with other development groups or outside software vendors
  • Addressing application life cycle management 
  • Server upgrades
  • Database upgrades (primarily SQLserver and Oracle DBMS)
  • Application upgrades


Specific tasks and activities include:

  • Production support; 1st line of support /case management
  • Impact analysis (functional, application risk assessment)
  • Manage production deployments, production verification testing and user implementation support
  • User acceptance coordination with customer/bug tracking
  • Troubleshooting and resolving application development issues
  • Application life cycle management
  • Compliance and change management controls adherence
  • Application vendor interface and support


Education / Experience

  • Four-year college degree with a major in Computer Science, MIS, Engineering, or related field preferred
  • Experience supporting vendor applications highly preferred
  • Experience with Windows Server and the associated suite of products: Reporting Services, Integration Services, etc.
  • Experience with SQL Server/Oracle, Conversant in relational databases
  • Experience with C# or other object-oriented programming languages
  • Experience with mobile development such as Xamarin
  • Experience with software version control platforms such as TFS and GitHub is desired.
  • Possess a solid understanding of technical environments and software methods
  • Customer service experience either directly or in a support role desired
